Now that summer is here in full force, many of us will be heading off on a well-deserved vacation. However, before you leave, it is essential to prepare for your trip in advance before departing. Whether you’re flying, driving or taking the train, a certain amount of preparation is always necessary.

Few-tips-before-you-travel

The first, and most obvious, preparation takes place a few weeks or even months before your vacation begins. These will be your airfare, car rental and accommodation bookings. Always ensure that these are indeed booked and confirmed by rechecking documentation and the reference numbers on the relevant websites. You wouldn’t want any nasty surprises ruining your vacation!

Do you have pets? They don’t like being home alone, so arrange a stay at the kennels, cattery or for someone to come and stay at your house to come and look after them.

Time for packing! This can be the trickiest part for several reasons. Knowing what to pack is very important, so check the weather at your destination, especially during your vacation period and pack accordingly. Pay attention not to over- or under-pack – a good balance is key here.

Luggage for trip

If you are on any chronic medication, be sure to pack sufficient pills for the duration of your stay, and, if you are flying, make sure that you pack the pills in your hand luggage in case your suitcases are lost!

Travelling abroad? Ensure that your passports are up to date and that you have the necessary visas for the country that you are travelling to. If you require vaccinations or need to take any precautions (such as Malaria tablets), make sure that you know about this in advance.
