Feeding a toddler is really challenging as you introduce them to a new taste every day and they joyfully explore it with us. They enjoy some of the new foods, like a few and dislike most of the vegetables on their plates. But, as they are going through this exploratory journey, it can be frustrating to come up with new ideas for their food. Here are some easy-to-make porridge recipes, which you can prepare in your electric rice cooker without any hassles:
Barley, Apple and Banana Porridge
This meal is rich in dietary fibres. You will need 2 table spoons of barley and one small sized apple and banana pureed together. Add the barley to your rice cooker with a cup of water. Set your rice cooker to the cook mode. Once done, stir the barley and water mixture nicely and add the fruit mix to it. Let it remain on the warm mode for 5 to 10 minutes. Take it out and mix with some milk. Tasty porridge is ready for your toddler.
Banana, Mango and Sattu Porridge
Sattu porridge is a part of the normal diet of babies in India. Add 3 tbsp of sattu powder along with half a cup of water to the rice cooker. Switch on the rice cooker and allow it to cook. Once it is done, add half a cup of milk and mix it well. Blend in pureed mango and banana to this. Give it a quick mix. For a sweeter taste, you can add a tablespoon of jaggery powder. This nutritious porridge will help your little one gain weight.
Ragi Porridge
To make ragi porridge, soak half a cup of fresh ragi in water overnight. Blend this soaked ragi in a mixer grinder. Now, add a cup of hot water and the pureed ragi to the rice cooker and set it to ‘cook’ mode. Once done, add 2 tbsp of jaggery syrup to it and mix it well. You can now feed your little one with delicious ragi porridge.
Oatmeal Porridge
This is also a fibre-rich porridge that aids in healthy digestion. To prepare this, you simply need to add ¼ cup of oatmeal cereal to the rice cooker pan along with ¾ cup of water. Close the rice cooker and start cooking. When the porridge is ready, add milk and sweetener as desired and feed it to your baby.
Daliya Porridge
All you need for this nutritious porridge is ½ a cup of roasted wheat daliya and 1½ cups of water. Add both the ingredients to the electric rice cooker and set it on the cooking mode. Let it cook till the rice cooker switches off. Now, add the milk and sweetener in the desired quantity and mix it well before feeding it to your little one.
Enjoy feeding your toddler with these recipes to introduce him/her to some new textures and flavours. Each of these will make for a healthy dose of your little one’s daily nutrition requirements.
